Sprinkling in a little more self-care

Sprinkling in a little more self-care

A few weeks ago I went to Dairy Queen with my young nephew. Of all the options, he ordered vanilla ice cream in a cup.

*WITH sprinkles.

It was amazing the impact the sprinkles had in transforming an otherwise plain treat. Of course, nothing wrong with plain vanilla ice cream (sometimes keeping things pure and simple is best!). But the sprinkles helped the ice cream to take on a whole new identity infused with colour, playfulness, and celebration. Just from a sprinkle of sprinkles.

In our first cohort of Thrivival Skills for Therapists, one of our participants mentioned the idea of asking ourselves how we can perhaps ‘sprinkle in’ just a little more of a self-care activity. Not an extra hour or even 10 minutes. Just thinking about ways to sprinkle in the activity - and maybe more importantly sprinkle in the mindset - in tiny doses. And notice what happens as a result.

We encourage all of us to try this out: What could be different if I just ‘sprinkle in’ a little more self-care today?

Just like my nephew’s ice cream, we are pretty sure that your day could take on a new more colourful and playful identity!
