Start planning your dream vacation

Start planning your dream vacation

Last Friday my family got some Chinese take out for dinner. As we finished the meal we each opened our fortune cookie and shared our 'fortunes' with each other.

Mine said, "Start planning your dream vacation".

My initial response was, "Yep, because any vacation right now is only going to be in my dreams!"

As I thought about it further, however, I realized there was a lot of wisdom in this fortune. As many of us know, the anticipation of an event is actually a significant contributor to our enjoyment. Planning allows us to experience this sense of anticipation. And while it may still be difficult to actually book flights and hotels for the near future, we could nonetheless start researching options for a trip to be taken even in a year or two. The fortune did say 'dream vacation', so presumably this is going to be an epic trip that will take some planning and saving!

On the flip side, maybe we can even simply indulge in a 'mini-dream vacation' that we don't have to wait two years for. What can you plan for this weekend? What can you plan for a Wednesday evening? Or even a Wednesday morning? I recently had an unexpected free Wednesday morning and it was an amazing pause in the middle of the week. Take a look at your schedule and see where you can carve out a few hours (if not a full day, or a week).
